our mission statement:

SheSources is an online resource dedicated to women and gender non-conforming individuals pursuing leadership roles in the film/tv/theatre industries.

our history:

SheSources was born in 2020 in Emma Stern’s artistic entrepreneurship class at NYU (thank you, Professor Liz Bradley). What originally started as a concept inspired by a meeting with Anne Quart became a realized idea when Emma won the 2020 HerCampus x Aussie Hair Care Business Plan Honorable Mention grant.

SheSources launched as a website that Emma cultivated and updated during the pandemic, interviewing various people (specifically women or gender non-conforming individuals) in positions of power from the entertainment industry while the world shut down. Emma decided to incorporate it in February 2021. Then it grew into a blog with a team of writers. Then it grew into a weekly radio show in partnership with UK-based W!ZARD Radio Media. The show, named New Voices, New Views, garnered 14,000 listeners on average every week and featured music from up-and-coming women & GNC artists. Guests that appeared on the show included Au/Ra, Violet Skies, Chanel Loren, Lou Roy, and Mint Simon.

After a year of co-producing New Voices, New Views with W!ZARD, SheSources decided to end the show and to take a break. After a year off, we’re back and re-branded, thanks to Christina Staggs Creative Co. We’re independently launching the podcast New To The Table, revolving around conversations with women & GNC creatives in entertainment’s leadership roles. For listeners who feel like they’re new to the table looking for guidance and inspiration, hosted by people who are in the exact same position.

The 2023 re-launch of SheSources looks forward to new projects, partnerships, and community. Happy SheSourcing.
